- 1918 Flu Pandemic in Utah . The Utah Digital Newspaper archive is a valuable resource for looking at how historical events were recorded in the news media in Utah. With the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic to Utah in March 2020, there was a compelling reason to examine news coverage during the 1918-1919 Spanish Influenza for relevant stories about the impacts & responses in Utah during that pandemic. This exhibit looks at the major events during the Spanish Influenza timeline in Utah and explores several additional topics in greater detail. - Mitsugi M. Kasai Memorial Japanese American Archive. The story told by this archive begins with the arrival of the first Japanese immigrants who came here to work in the railroad, mining, and agricultural industries. Included are records, photographs, journals, oral histories, and films from their settlement. Salt Lake City’s Japantown, the 442nd Regimental Combat Team and other U. S. military involvement, relocation to internment camps, and the establishment of Japanese Buddhist and Christian churches are included in the archive.
