Announcing Scripto for Omeka S

It’s here! Scripto for Omeka S is out today!

Scripto for Omeka S facilitates community sourcing content for your Omeka S collections. Not only can you create transcription projects, as you can with Scripto for Classic, but you can also create projects to transcribe or describe items.

Read all about Scripto in the user manual or give it a spin by transcribing a document at the Papers of the War Department.

Just as Omeka S supports multiple sites from a single installation, this new version of Scripto allows you to create multiple projects. Each project connects to an item set in your Omeka S installation, updating only when the project administrators decide.

Community members can now track their activity by accessing their very own transcriber dashboard, which shows them their latest contributions and any updates to documents they have decided to watch.

Want to put Scripto to use and make it look good? Use the new Papers theme, specifically designed for use with S and Scripto. There’s also a section of the new user manual to learn more about themeing Scripto.

Scripto for Omeka S was made possible by a Digital Humanities Advancement Grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

As always, if you run into problems, reach out via the forum for support.
