E-mail Notification

Description

Plugin for Omeka Classic. Once installed and active, system notifies specific recipients once a new Item and/or Collection and/or Exhibit (if Exhibit Builder plugin is installed and active) is added.

Settings allow to choose who is receiving the notification, to customize the messages sent and whether the system should display information about the notification also for the user who just added the new Item and/or Collection and/or Exhibit.

Installation

Uncompress files and rename plugin folder "EmailNotification".

Then install it like any other Omeka plugin.

Customizing messages

Starting from version 1.3, it's possible to customize the whole message sent to recipient, by using special fields like {item_title} or {collection_public_status}; fields will be replaced by their actual values when sending the notification. For instance, if Item "Juliet and Romeo" was added by a contributor named "John Doe", the text "A new Item was added by {item_creator} with the title '{item_title}'" would be sent as "A new Item was added by John Doe with the title 'Juliet and Romeo'".

Notification for Item / Collection / Exhibit made public

Starting from version 1.4, it's possible to send notification to original owner of an Item / Collection / Exhibit when the same is made public.

Warning

Use it at your own risk.

It’s always recommended to backup your files and your databases and to check your archives regularly so you can roll back if needed.

Troubleshooting

See online issues on the plugin issues page on GitHub.
