Uninstalling faulty plugins

Hi,

I tried installing an older plugin [Omeka-xmlSitemap] on our test machine today. One I hit install on the plugin page the admin display was mostly blanked.

So I rm -rf'd the plugin folder and things went back to normal. On the plugins page there is still and entry for Omeka-XMLSitemap though it now says "this is not a valid plugin".

My questions are:

Where does this entry come from now?
What do I have to do to completely remove trace of the plugin?

[As a super extra bonus question I wonder if anyone has this plugin working with Omeka 2+ ?]

When plugins are installed, they get a row in the plugins table of the database. You can either just delete that row directly from the database, or put the files back and try to uninstall the plugin, then delete the files.

Super extra bonus answer: not that I know of.

Did you ftp/sftp/ssh into your server to see if the folder is still there? I found that even if I removed a plugin, the folder itself would sometimes remain on the server. So after I uninstall, I then go into the omeka plugins folder and make sure there is nothing lingering for that particular plugin. If so, I remove it. I'm currently on 2.2.2 and that has worked for me. Also, you might need to do a refresh on the server side. I haven't had to do that with Omeka yet, but I have had to do it a few times with WP for various reasons. Good luck!

Thanks Patrick!

Hi georgiawebgurl, nope the folder is gone alright [the plugin didn't seem to install correctly so I couldn't uninstall it via the admin interface]. Thanks for your help.

Hmm. If you cleared your browser cache too then it would seem that indeed, there is an entry somewhere in your omeka installation. Can you do a server side search within files? Perhaps across the admin folder?
