I have seen the software requirements on the Omeka Web site, but I didn't see anything about hardware. Being that people are hosting it on Dreamhost and other web hosing platforms, my guess is that the requirements, especially for a low use site, are not very great. However, I was wondering if anyone had any guidelines as to what speed processor and how much memory is required to run Omeka. Any thoughts?
This is an interesting question, and one I don't think we've run into yet. Omeka is built using the Zend Framework, so I checked with no such luck to see if they have any hardware guidelines.
My estimation, based upon experiences over the past 7 months of helping individuals and institutions set up Omeka is that once software requirements are met, Omeka can run on standard and pretty basic hardware. Perhaps one of the other developers have thoughts about memory and processor speed --
