Hello -
We are exploring omeka and so far like it. We currently have a dspace server, and would like to harvest from there to omeka. I installed the harvester plugin and was able to use it to harvest the test set (http://vagovernmentmatters.org/oai-pmh-repository/request) with no problems. However, when I try to harvest from our dspace server, I get "String could not be parsed as XML". Our URL is http://dspace.willardlibrary.org/oai. When I do http://dspace.willardlibrary.org/oai/request?verb=ListSets, it seems to look fine to me. What am I missing?
Thanks!
Librarymark
There is a slight problem with the URL, try: http://dspace.willardlibrary.org/oai/request
With that I was able to see 3 sets: Battle Creek Central Paean Yearbook; Stuart A. Lassen Postcard Collection; Willard Library Digital Collections.
Then I successfully harvested the Stuart A. Lassen Postcard Collection.
You are a genius! That works! COOL! But - are the pictures supposed to come over too? I see the DC stuff, but no images.
With the DC sets, no files are transferred according to the standards of the protocol.
Thanks so much! I guess that shows how little I know about this stuff.
Is there a way to transfer files as well?
jteeter: No, the latest version of OAI-PMH harvester does not transfer files.
Correction: OAI-PMH Harvester does transfer files if your harvesting CDWA Lite, and files are available. It does not for harvesting Dublin Core.
@Jeremy what about using OAI-PMH with SWORD can the transfer of materials be done that way?
I was wondering if anyone has found a way for Omeka to grab the files as well as data using OAI-PMH Harvester when using Dublin Core. We are exploring using DSpace for our repository and Omeka as our display. Thanks in advance, Jen
