Geolocation

Hi -- I'm interested in the geolocation plugin, but the link with the example isn't working. Any thoughts?

Hi Beth,
Do you mean: "http://example.com/geolocation/map/browse, where example.com is the path to your Omeka installation"?

This is not an actual example, but just a way to illustrate where your map will be located within your own site.

Sheila

Ah! That makes sense. Still I would love to see an example of the geolocation plug in.

Hi Beth, a previous version of the Geolocation plugin is used on the Hurricane Archive: http://hurricanearchive.org/map/

We have plans to implement it in future CHNM projects as well.

I've been playing with the geolocation plug in:
http://www.smarthistory.org/omeka/geolocation/map/browse/page/1

Doesn't seem to be appearing...

Thoughts?

Hi, what version of Omeka are you using, and what version of the Geolocation plugin?

I am using Omeka 0.10 -- and the geolocation plugin I installed only a couple of weeks ago, so I imagine it's the most recent one.

Any ideas? Would love to get it to work!

Any chance there is an Omeka person out there who can answer my geolocation question above?

Thanks!!

Sorry for missing this, Beth. It looks like there's an issue with the helper functions used to display the public map. This is an issue with the plugin, so we'll have to roll out a fix for it. Sorry! We'll plan do that soon, and will keep you posted.

I see that there is a new release of this plugin for the Omeka Beta 1.0 release. If I move to the Beta version and use the new plugin will it resolve the issue Bethharris identified?
Thanx.

Hi Edjmcn,

Yes, if you move to Omeka 1.0 beta and use the new release of the plugin, it will resolve the issue Bethharris noted.

Thanks Jeremy,

The upgrades did resolve the map page display issue, but I have two new issues as a result.

First, the 'Find Your Location Via Address" geocoding service while editing an item stopped working. No error is reported, just doesn't do anything.

Also, in the public browse view of an item with a geolocation the infowindow only displays a variable of some kind - $[namewithlink] - instead of the values for the item.

I've reviewed the docs and instructions but do not see anything suggesting I've more setup to do.

Any help is appreciated. Ed

Please ignore my last post... it was pilot error (mine) after all. I did miss a step in the instructions.

I'm unable to add more than one location for my maps because the map is actually overlapping the section where I input my addresses.

Is there any way to fix this?

Is it possible to take a screenshot of what this looks like on your screen and share the image with us? I'm unsure what this looks like, or what could be causing the problem.
