What version of Omeka are you running?

Same issue here using version .10. Looks like the SWF is being passed to ImageMagick for resizing which IM doesn't like and an exception is thrown.
Any thoughts on a workaround--other than ugly hacks to the upload functions in the File model? :)

The SWF files thing is a known bug, we've got it up on Trac to fix: https://omeka.org/trac/ticket/703 .
Currently it's scheduled to be fixed as part of our 1.0 release cycle. It most likely won't be fixed in 0.10, but you can track progress on it via that URL.
