News Omeka 0.10 Alpha

Today we’re happy to announce the availability of Omeka 0.10 alpha, the first major alpha release of Omeka since 0.9.0 in February. In this version we’ve updated to a powerful new data model based on an unqualified Dubin Core standard. We’ve also improved the theme and plugin APIs to work with that data model and make it easier for plugin and theme creators to work with Omeka.

We’re making the alpha release available through our Subversion repository. You can check it out at https://omeka.org/svn/tags/0.10alpha/. If you’d like to keep up with the development team as it adds features and fixes bugs on the alpha, you can check out the trunk in our repository for the most up-to-date version. If you’re unfamiliar with Subversion, you can read our instructions for using it in Using Subversion on our codex.

We’ve tried to make the 0.10 alpha as stable as possible, but because this is an alpha release and we’re releasing it for testing and feedback from the development community, we advise you not to use this on a production site. Instead, copy your database from a preexisting Omeka site, or create a separate install to try it out. If you do check it out and would like to provide feedback to the development team, please join the Omeka-Dev group on Google Groups.
