I have a question regarding Okeka software download on a Mac. Can someone confirm whether this installation requires using the Linux platform, specifically Ubuntu?

As of now, Omeka is available on the Linux operating system only. However, if you are running a remote Linux server, there is nothing preventing you from downloading, unpacking, and uploading the Omeka files to said server and running it there. To clarify, you might also be able to operate Omeka through a VM, as described at the bottom of the page I linked to above.
