   Hi all!

   I am wondering if users are able to search by item type, such as document, still image, moving image, etc. It does not appear that this is possible, in which case, is there any benefit to adding new item types?

   Yes! Have you looked at the Sandbox? You can limit the search string by a number of factors in the Advanced Search page:
   http://omeka.org/sandbox/demo/items/advanced-search
