Is there any way to allow the public view of maps created using the Geolocation plugin to have the searching functionality that the admin view has. The limit of only 50 items per map makes the public view sort of random in the groupings that it makes.

The map will respond to parameters in the URL (the same ones that appear in the URL when you do an advanced search, but there's not currently any search interface that will submit to the map's page.
You can use the URL paramters to create customized links that perform a search or sort the items in a particular way, though, and you could also edit your map browse view to contain a search or filtering form.
