I checked out the trunk and installed omeka.
But when i go to the add new item page, I get an error stating that the table omeka_metatext doesn't exist. So i checked my database. It has omeka_metatexts, but not omeka_metatext.
Please advise.

The trunk is broken, since we are currently refactoring it heavily. It's about to be even more broken, so I recommend checking out the stable-0.9 branch if you want to use it for a live site. If you want to keep using the trunk and find bugs for us to fix, free to join our dev list at:
