    somehow the field order has changed when I'm editing an item at a URL like:
    http://myomeka/admin/items/edit/4737

    The order used to be:
    Title, Subject, Description...

    and now it goes:
    Date Issued, Date Modified, Date Valid...

    Title is way down the page as the 33rd field.

    What in Omeka rules the order of these fields??

    BTW: we are using the Dublin Core Extended plugin (v 1.1) with Omeka Version 1.3.2

    With those same versions of Omeka and Dublin Core Extended, I can't reproduce your problem.

    Elements have an "order" field which determines what order they appear on the form in, and Dublin Core Extended respects that order.
