Can you turn on debugging in your application/config/config.ini file and send the error message that's displayed on your screen for that specific page? It should provide a traceroot so we can see what file is causing the problem.

Hi there

I have installed the 0.9.2 version of Omeka. I found out that everytime I create an exhibition, if I select "No" at the "Exhibit is Featured" section I get I a debugging page that among other php info includes this

["message:protected"] => string(91) "Mysqli statement execute error : Incorrect integer value: '' for column 'featured' at row 1"

Is there something I can do in order to avoid this error, since I don't want every exhibition I create to be in the featured list?

Thanks

Kris, with your suggestions this is now working just fine so far. We are still running the 0.9.0 version of Omeka, but everything is working nice and stably so far. We are running everything on RHEL 5.2 with their PHP 5.1.xxx.

I made the changes to the string casting in the following files:
application/models/ItemTable.php
application/models/TagTable.php

Once I made the changes to those files as you directed above we are able to search and order by tag with no errors at all.

I'm hoping Red Hat will move PHP to version 5.2 in their upcoming update 3 to RHEL server but there is no guarantee of that and it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't but we can always hope. The bummer is that they have PHP 5.2 available in their application stack product which includes JBOSS and an updated LAMP stack among other things, but application stack is prohibitively expensive unless you are actually need the JBOSS portion of things.

If others want to make the plunge and upgrade their RHEL servers to PHP 5.2 there are third party packages out there I found in doing my research. Obviously, using these packages takes you out of having a supported PHP install from Red Hat's perspective but that may not be a big deal to some people. At any rate I found the packages listed below for anyone thats interested. I didn't actually try them myself so use at your own risk, but I imagine they work well.

Some of our other users have had luck running Omeka on a virtual machine, which would give you the most control over how your system is configured. Unfortunately we don't have the resources to continuously test and design against multiple versions of PHP, but if you have any luck getting it to work on your server, please send us a patch and we'll see about integrating it into the Omeka codebase. Thanks!

We are running version 0.9.0 of the software. I just tried upgrading to 0.9.2 and got it to work but we are still having the same issues with tags. So are the only options in this case to run Omeka to either go through and fix the code or break my support with Red Hat? Sounds like a bummer either way. Thanks for the help thus far!

The problem with the SQL statement is related to the way that PHP 5.1 casts objects to strings. You see the part where it says "Object id #137" in the SQL statement; that is the incorrect representation of an object as a string, whereas it should be another SQL statement that is nested in that i.id IN ( ) clause.

One of the big differences between PHP 5.1 and 5.2 is the way that objects are converted to strings, which in this case is causing it to nosedive.

In this case, the offending code in question is on line 320 (or thereabouts, depending on the version you're running) of application/models/ItemTable.php, and it is this line:

$select->where('i.id IN (' . (string) $subSelect . ')');

if you change
(string) $subSelect
to
$subSelect->__toString()
it will probably work. There may be a bunch of cases like this unfortunately, so there could be multiple spots where your Omeka installation bombs out.

What version of the software are you running?

Dave, as I mentioned we are running RHEL 5.2 which doesn't support php 5.2 yet so when you try to even install omeka 0.9.2 it won't go any further. Any ideas on the error above? This error would indicate its more of a sql syntax error than a php problem.

Whenever we click on a tag on a page we get an error message on screen saying an exception has occurred. In the application logs I see the messages below. It appears to be some sort of error in the sql statement according to the message. We are running on a RHEL 5 system fully patched out which uses php-5.1.6-20.el5_2.1. I know the requirements are to have PHP 5.2 but this needs to run on a Red Hat system and if I upgrade PHP I'm no longer supported so thats just not an option at this point. Any ideas?

Thanks to the guys from omeka we found the solution for this problem.

Best jan

Zend_Db,don't supports port numbers in the hostname.

Looking at the initializeDb() function that begins on line 112 of
application/libraries/Omeka/Core.php (http://tinyurl.com/3usnab), it
looks like the port number is not being passed to the
Zend_Db::factory. (The $dsn variable also looks to be vestigial)

So first of all, db.ini needs the addition of :

port = "3307"

but in order for that to work, we need to add something like:

'port' => $db->port,

to line 128 of Core.php.

Is any of this on target Kris?

Details are on this page of the Zend
Framework docs:

http://framework.zend.com/manual/en/zend.db.html#zend.db.adapter.connecting.parameters

A little Google searching turns up the Apache manual for using .htaccess files.

FYI:
I was having this issue as well --

hosting: pair.com
path to convert: /usr/local/bin/convert

I did indeed have to make the suggested change in File.php in order to correct the issue.

Also, because I can run under php-cgiwrap on pair, I didn't have to set the folders in archive to 777 - they can stay 755, which makes me much more comfortable.

We enabled the error log, but it doesn't report any errors. And just to make sure our ImageMagick is working fine, we installed Gallery2 on the same server and it works fine. So it can't be a problem with ImageMagick, unless Omeka needs a very specific version of ImageMagick.

Hi All,

we are trying to set up Omeka 0.9.2 on a Solaris 10 machine.
Our configurations are as follows.

Apache - 2.2.8
PHP - 5.2.6
MySQL - 5.0.51b
ImageMagick - 6.3.8

1)
When we follow "add an item" to add a JPG or a TIFF after the final step an empty page is displayed with no html source code. But when we check the archive folder the image has been properly resized and square and thumbnails have been produced. So Imagemagick seems to be working fine. In the public site the submission is been shown with all the meta data but without the image.

When we follow "add an item" to add a PDF file system works perfectly and you can see the submission with the PDF file from the public site.

Can someone please direct us in the appropriate direction to solve this problem.

2)
Where does the admin\themes\default\items\form.php submits to?

Thanks in advance.

OK, I found the problem.

I read this thread on the same forum: http://omeka.org/forums/topic/imagemagick-error?replies=4#post-446

On line 347 application/models/File.php, you I changed $path . ' -version' to just $path.

And Omeka works!

I gave up Fink, MAMP etc.

I'm now using Mac OS X's Apache, entropy.ch's PHP5, MySQL compiled from source, ImageMagick compiled from source, magick.so compiled from source. I changed the php.ini file in ordre to tell PHP that it can use magick.so.

And omeka still says me: "ImageMagick is not well configured".

This time, convert is in /usr/local/bin

I strangelly can't manage to change the path of the apache's environment.

Hi. Here are some links:

It seems I could get Omeak to work with Apache/MySQL/PHP/ImageMagick compiled from Fink or MacPorts.

Very interesting. Could you do me a favor and post a link to the pages that said it was impossible to configure ImageMagick with MAMP? Thanks.

I'm getting a 500 error that says <Directory not allowed in the .htaccess file. Is there another way to get those commands into the file without putting it into the directory tag?

Fritz,

Try adding this to the bottom of your .htaccess file.

<Directory /home/web/manchester-press.com/data>
Options -MultiViews -Includes -FollowSymLinks -Indexes
Order Deny,Allow
Allow from all
</Directory>

This will disable the options set in the apache conf file. This might be necessary because MultiViews, if it can't find a file or directory, kind of makes one up. You'll also want to disable Indexes, so that the directory structure is not visible. Includes (server side includes) are pretty insecure, so it's also best to disable those. You probably won't have any symbolic links to worry about, so it's safe to disable that as well.

Let us know if that works or does not.

Hi,

thanks for your answer. I followed the instructions on that page:
http://www.brybot.ca/archives/113-Getting-Imagemagick-and-more-to-work-with-MAMP-on-OS-X.html

I managed to add /sw/bin in Apache's PATH environment.

Unfortunately, it did not solve my problem.

Is there something I missed in the ImageMagick installation? a mod something that has to be installed?

Is it possible to use images in Omeka (I'm just testing it) without ImageMagick?

EDIT: After looking at some webpages, it is probably impossible do configure ImageMagick to work with the MAMP's Apache version.

Is /sw/bin in your Apache environment's path? I'm not sure if that would be the cause of the problem, but you can try it out and see. You can figure that out by looking at your phpinfo dump and looking at PATH under the Apache Environment heading. Let me know if adding that directory to your path solves your problem.

To apply the patch, download the attached file and try:
