What is the best way to upgrade from ver 1.1 to 1.2?

I followed the directions. Went back to my panel and saw the upgrade. Hit it and got this:
404 Not Found
The requested URL /omeka/admin/upgrade/migrate does not exist.
In fact, I only see in the admin dir an index.php file and a themes directory.
I got it to install. The problem was that the .htaccess files didn't transfer. Just as a suggestion, I would put some specific information on the Upgrade page about making sure these files are installed (rather than just under what to do if the upgrade doesn't work). Just a suggestion.
