Magsaysay Awardees Digital Collection

This is to introduce an ongoing project using Omeka, the Magsaysay Awardees Digital Collection, which was formally launched this afternoon. A description of the project as found in the about page:

The growing opportunity of creating new connections through information technology and the Internet has led the RAMON MAGSAYSAY AWARD FOUNDATION to create a visual environment that is both informative and engaging to the visitors of our on-line resource site. We have set-up a searchable virtual library of images and documents that showcases the Awardees’ life and work, with the intent of making these materials accessible to those who wish to learn about the Magsaysay Awardees.

The on-line materials spotlights the work of Magsaysay laureates as a rich resource of working models, applied technology, and rich insights on diverse issues and development problems which the Magsaysay Awardees have addressed or continue to find solutions to make Asia a better place.

We invite you to explore the rich resources from Asia, and learn how ordinary individuals and organizations can make a difference in the lives of others, in selfless service to the peoples of Asia.

There are still gigabytes of data that need to be encoded, theme customizations, and exhibits to create, but I have decided to inform the community of its presence, at its early stage as a way of saying, Thank You! to the wonderful people behind Omeka, its developers and the community that supports it.

The project can be accessed though this url http://www.rmaf.org.ph/marc and the direct link to the Omeka instance http://www.rmaf.org.ph/madc.

If you have suggestions, comments and questions about it, contact me at rcsampang AT gmail.com.

Thanks for sharing your project. This a great way to use Omeka, and the site looks really good.

For others working on projects, please feel free to share your work with the rest of the Omeka community.
