ISAD-G and ISAAR-CPF

Hello
It is possible that omeka in a future can have the international council on archives
rules ISAD ISSAR CPF ISDIAH

thanks
gus

I'm not familiar with those standards (could you give some links to overview information?), but Omeka makes it pretty easy to create new element sets for describing your items with a plugin. The Dublin Core Extended and PBCore Element Set plugins might give some models for how to build them

Hello Patrick

Ther rules are :archival description using General International Standard Archival Description (ISAD[G]).

Authority records based on
International Standard Archival Authority Records (ISAAR[CPF]);

archival repository records based on
International Standard for Describing Institutions with Archival Holdings
(ISDIAH);

describing functions using
International Standard for Describing Functions (ISDF);

Also you can see that the International Council of Archives help to these project

https://www.ica-atom.org/doc/Descriptive_standards

and maybe yours can see also for omeka.

Gus

Hi Gus,

did you find a way to implement ISADG in Omeka? If anybody has built a plugin for this I would be interested

Thanks...

No yet!!

Hi,

Free software as a free beer doesn't mean free as free speech. Free software can be freed only if somebody has been paid to build the code the first time...

This is not an heavy task (I made a partial one for a French standard for digital libraries, refNum), except if the norm is complex.

Note that Omeka is designed to display and broadcast items, not to manage them, so all fields may not be needed.

Sincerely,

Daniel Berthereau

Thanks Daniel
Do you have an example of the use of refNum?
thanks
Gus

Hi,

Specifications and samples of refNum are on http://bibnum.bnf.fr/refNum. RefNum is an xml format that describes each page and image of a scanned book.
In Omeka, these data are not shown in the public interface, because they are used only to manage the representation of the book via the BookReader of Internet Archive. You can see the result for example in https://patrimoine.mines-paristech.fr/document/Bergbuchlein (partially scanned document).

Thanks very much
Do you use refNum with BookReader?

Where is the link for download BookReader in gitub?
because these link
https://github.com/jsicot/BookReader)
not run

Thanks very much
Gus

Hi,

You have a ")" in your link.

In France, books and journals are often scanned with an attached refNum file. I import them with XmlImport and display them with an enhanced version of Julien Sicot's BookReader (BookReader).
