I found a previous post regarding this but I'm using the most recent version already, 1.5.3. I can add the item type, but when I check "new" and click "Add Element" it goes to the item type summary, I don't get the text boxes. Thanks

That sounds like you're having some kind of error with the Javascript on the page.
Have you disabled Javascript in your browser, and does it report any errors in the web console (accessible from different places depending on the browser)?
I used the same browser settings in the sandbox demo and it worked. I read somewhere that plugins can interfere so I went and disabled a few and the functionality came back. I'll go and re-enable them one at a time and figure out which one it was and report back.
Turned out it was a browser problem, Safari. Firefox worked fine.
