Omeka Everywhere Collection Viewer

Created for galleries, libraries, archives, and museums, the Omeka Everywhere Collections Viewer allows an institution to connect a multitouch device – table or tablet – to their Omeka installation, delivering an engaging in-gallery experience.

Using the API in Omeka Classic (v2.4), Omeka Everywhere Collections Viewer pulls the items from a specific collection to a multitouch device. Visitors browse the collection by institution-generated tags, with items loading in a drawer across the bottom of the screen. With the tap of a finger, visitors can send items from the drawer to the stage, where they can zoom, rotate, “pass” the item to a friend, or “flip” it over to view the associated metadata.

Omeka Everywhere is a collaboration between the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media, Ideum, the University of Connecticut’s Digital Media and Design Department, and is made possible by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
